King ‘s role

Writes copy of Torah

Deu 17:18  "When he has come to occupy the throne of his kingdom, he is to write a copy of this Torah for himself in a scroll, from the one the cohanim and L'vi'im use.

Deu 17:19  It is to remain with him, and he is to read in it every day, as long as he lives; so that he will learn to fear Adonai his God and keep all the words of this Torah and these laws and obey them;

Deu 17:20  so that he will not think he is better than his kinsmen; and so that he will not turn aside either to the right or to the left from the mitzvah. In this way he will prolong his own reign and that of his children in Isra'el.

 Yehovah

Never contradicts Himself…ever

War and outside camp

Num 31:5  So out of the thousands of people in Isra'el, a thousand armed men from each tribe, 12,000 altogether, were mustered for war. Num 31:6  Moshe sent them, a thousand from each tribe, to the war; he sent them and Pinchas the son of El`azar the cohen to the war, with the holy utensils and the trumpets for sounding the alarm in his care. Num 31:7  They fought against Midyan, as Adonai had ordered Moshe, and killed every male.

Num 31:19  Pitch your tents outside the camp for seven days. Whoever has killed a person or touched the corpse of someone slain, purify yourselves on the third and seventh days, you and your captives.

Num 19:16  Also whoever is in an open field and touches a corpse, whether of someone killed by a weapon or of someone who died naturally, or the bone of a person, or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.

No categories for how many people you can kill in war to stop you from working for Yehovah

Moses

Murdered a man in anger

Exo 2:11  One day, when Moshe was a grown man, he went out to visit his kinsmen; and he watched them struggling at forced labor. He saw an Egyptian strike a Hebrew, one of his kinsmen.

Exo 2:12  He looked this way and that; and when he saw that no one was around, he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand.

Exo 3:11  Moshe said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and lead the people of Isra'el out of Egypt?"

Moshe asks the question knowing full well that he murdered.

Moshe had reason for the murder but does that fit Torah?

Builds Mishchan

Exo 26:30  "You are to erect the tabernacle according to the design you have been shown on the mountain.

How come Moshe gets to build the Mishkan/Tabernacle for Moshe murdered a pagan?

How come David does not even though he was told to go to war?

Is there an error or contradiction in the word

Build it according to the pattern. Didn’t Moshe she blood and try to hide it?

2 Shmu’el 7:1-18

2Sa 7:1  After the king had been living in his palace awhile and Adonai had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,

2Sa 7:2  the king said to Natan the prophet, "Here, I'm living in a cedar-wood palace; but the ark of God is kept in a tent!"

2Sa 7:3  Natan said to the king, "Go, do everything that is in your heart, for Adonai is with you."

2Sa 7:4  But that same night the word of Adonai came to Natan:

2Sa 7:5  "Go and tell my servant David that this is what Adonai says: 'You are going to build me a house to live in?

2Sa 7:1  After the king had been living in his palace awhile and Adonai had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,

Key: rest from enemies

2Sa 7:2  the king said to Natan the prophet, "Here, I'm living in a cedar-wood palace; but the ark of God is kept in a tent!"

Key: We see David’s heart and desire “The ark of Elohim is in a tent”

2Sa 7:3  Natan said to the king, "Go, do everything that is in your heart, for Adonai is with you."

Key: Natan who is the Prophet who anointed David to be King when Saul was still King.

What happens to a Prophet who lies?

Deu 18:20  " 'But if a prophet presumptuously speaks a word in my name which I didn't order him to say, or if he speaks in the name of other gods, then that prophet must die.'

Does Natan the prophet get stoned to death?

BIG KEY: why the passage of time? Shows that something changed

2Sa 7:4  But that same night the word of Adonai came to Natan:

2Sa 7:5  "Go and tell my servant David that this is what Adonai says: 'You are going to build me a house to live in?

Still later why not then?

Did Natan speak out of turn?

Did David have a change of heart?

THE CONTRADICTION?

1Ch 22:7  "My son," said David to Shlomo, "my heart was set on building a house for the name of Adonai my God.

1Ch 22:8  But a message from Adonai came to me, 'You have shed much blood and fought great wars. You are not to build a house for my name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth in my sight.

1Ch 22:9  But you will have a son who will be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies that surround him; for his name is to be Shlomo, and during his reign I will give peace [Hebrew: shalom] and quiet to Isra'el.

1Ch 22:10  It is he who will build a house for my name. He will be my son and I will be his father, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Isra'el forever.'

This verse directly contradicts the Torah. Num_31:20, Num_31:24

1Ch 22:8  But a message from Adonai came to me, 'You have shed much blood and fought great wars. You are not to build a house for my name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth in my sight.

What is to much blood?

Is it 1 or 100?

Test all things

Moshe built the Tabernacle, he murdered the Egyptian.

David

Had been mislead by devil in census

Had been mislead by his lust

Has killed many men in war, killed 10,000

Has killed one in murder

Adultery

Shlomo

1Ki 5:1 Hiram king of Tzor sent his servants to Shlomo, because he had heard that they had anointed him king in his father's place, and Hiram had always loved David.

1Ki 5:2 Shlomo returned this message to Hiram: 1Ki 5:3"You know that David my father wasn't able to build a house for the name of Adonai his God, because of the wars that beset him from every side, until Adonai put his enemies under the soles of my feet. 1Ki 5:4 But now Adonai my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor calamity. 1Ki 5:5 So now I intend to build a house for the name of Adonai my God, in keeping with what Adonai said to David my father, 'Your son, whom I will put on your throne in your place, will be the one to build the house for my name.'

This verse seems to contradict the next

5:3"You know that David my father wasn't able to build a house for the name of Adonai his God, because of the wars that beset him from every side, until Adonai put his enemies under the soles of my feet.

2Sa 7:1  After the king had been living in his palace awhile and Adonai had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,

Verse 1 contradicts next scripture if your not looking at the heart change

2Sa 8:1  Some time afterwards, David attacked the P'lishtim and subdued them; David took Meteg-Amah out of the hands of the P'lishtim.

I thought David had rest? Then why attack?

2Sa 11:1  In the spring, at the time when kings go out to war, David sent out Yo'av, his servants who were with him and all Isra'el. They ravaged the people of `Amon and laid siege to Rabbah. But David stayed in Yerushalayim.

Why go to war I thought Yehovah gave you rest. Time to build the tabernacle?
