Num 30:3 (2)  when a man makes a vow to YEHOVAH or formally obligates himself by swearing an oath, he is not to break his word but is to do everything he said he would do.

On my honor, I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Note that the Boy Scout Oath has traditionally been considered to have three promises. 1) Duty to God and country 2) Duty to other people 3) Duty to self

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Every morning school children, across the United States of America, place their hand across their chest, above their heart and, in unison, recite the Pledge.

Because the Pledge as become so ingrained in our daily life, like so many other things, we can habituate to its presence and stop paying attention to its deep meaning.

DOCTORS OATH

The original version of the oath, as Hippocrates is believed to have written it, spells out several ethical bases of the medical profession; for example, it speaks of respecting one's instructors, using medical knowledge to help rather than harm, and safeguarding patients' privacy. Most important, it emphasizes that patients are to be treated not as cases or experimental subjects, but as human beings worthy of respect and compassion.

POLICE

"On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the Constitution, the community, and the agency I serve, so help me God."

PRESIDENT

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
